The Isle of Wight Festival, one of the oldest and most popular events in the UK, is running into major challenges after a torrential downpour resulted in massive traffic jams, mud soaked campgrounds, and suspended ferry service. Fans slept in their cars while during the wait, while others have been giving up. But with a lineup that includes Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen, and Tom Petty, expect festival fans to?persevere?through a soggy weekend.

What about refunds? Festival promoter John Giddings alluded to them on BBC Radio, but that rumor has been firmly?shut down?on the official Isle of Wight Facebook page:

There are lots of rumours circulating about ticket refunds and we just wanted to clarify. The situation has now been resolved and it is possible for everyone to access the site, enjoy the Festival and the music.

The strong rain also caused the cancellation of the the Africa Oy? Festival, a free festival of African Music. From the website:

We are very sad to have to announce that due to heavy rain over the last few nights causing several Health and Safety issues in the set up of the festival site as well as the potential accidents that could happen over the weekend because of the weather, Africa Oy? has been forced to cancel this weekend?s festival in Sefton Park.
