Cats dumped near Sutherlin home | Pet Pro Plus | Business ...

Sutherlin , Ore (KMTR) Douglas County Sheriff?s Deputies are trying to find out who brutally killed two cats and dumped them near a family?s Sutherlin home. Now the Oregon Humane Society is hoping to help bring the suspects to justice. The Oregon Humane Society is offering a $500 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the animal?s death. The cats were found dead outside a private home on the 1500 block of Plat I Rd. on Friday, Feb. 24. Douglas County authorities believe the cats were brought to the home after they were killed by someone at another location. One cat belonged to the family living at the home; the other did not. One cat was tan and black with long hair, the other had tan-colored medium-length fur. Both cats were found with twine around their necks, although this was not the cause of death.

?

The Douglas County Sheriff?s Office believes the cats were killed sometime between noon on Thursday, Feb. 23 and noon on Friday, Feb. 24. Aggravated animal abuse (defined as maliciously killing or intentionally or knowingly torturing an animal) is a felony in Oregon , punishable by up to five years in jail.
