Physician: Zimmerman had broken nose, black eye

The day after George Zimmerman fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, a family physician wrote in a report obtained by ABC News that Zimmerman had a broken nose, ?a pair of black eyes, two lacerations to the back of his head and a minor back injury.?

The three-page medical report is part of the discovery -- stacks of documents and CDs ? currently being examined by the prosecution and the defense, ABC News reported.

The doctor wrote that Zimmerman, 28, made an appointment to make sure he could return to work, ABC News reported. Zimmerman, an insurance underwriter at the time, told the doctor that his lower back hurt; photos? show that he also had bruising on his upper lip.

The report also notes that Zimmerman had been prescribed mood medications Adderall and Temazepam before the shooting, ABC News reported. The doctor added that Zimmerman refused to go to the hospital the night of the shooting and added that it was ?imperative? that he see his psychologist.

On the night of the shooting, police officials from Sanford, Fla. said that Zimmerman told them he had used the gun in self-defense.

After more than a month of legal handwringing, during which the case was being intensely scrutinized by the media, Zimmerman was charged with second-degree murder for Martin?s death on Feb. 26. The prosecution contends that Zimmerman tracked the teen, who was returning to the gated community, where his father?s girlfriend lived, after buying snacks at a corner store.

He was charged on April 11; he was released from jail 12 days later on $150,000 bail.

Since the shooting, debate has raged over whether Martin attacked Zimmerman before being shot, punching him in the face and hitting his head against the pavement.

Martin?s family, pointing to surveillance video from the police station, note that Zimmerman didn?t have any apparent wounds. Zimmerman?s attorney argued that the footage was of too-low quality to determine whether he had been injured.

PARIS - Socialist Francois Hollande was sworn in as president of France on Tuesday in a low-key ceremony amid a debt crisis gripping the Eurozone.

Hollande, who became the first Socialist leader in 17 years to occupy Elysee Palace, in his first presidential speech promised to fight financial speculation and "open a new path" in Europe but admitted that he has inherited massive government debt.

The 57-year-old career politician has his plate full on his inauguration day. He was to dash off later in the day to Berlin to meet Chancellor Angela Merkel for urgent talks over their different visions on how to save the Eurozone bloc, form his cabinet, name his prime minister and also deliver a presidential address.

Hollande replaced the conservative president Nicolas Sarkozy. In a brief ceremony, Sarkozy handed over the levers of power including the country's nuclear codes and other secret dossiers to his successor. He then bid goodbye on the steps of the palace and left with his wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.

In an inaugural address to Socialist leaders, trade unionists, military officers, churchmen and officials, Hollande said: "Europe needs plans. It needs solidarity. It needs growth."

"I will propose to my European partners a pact that ties the necessary reduction of deficit to the indispensable stimulation of the economy," he said.

His talks with Merkel, the leader of Europe's biggest economy and France's key ally, will be keenly watched especially with Greece in political turmoil with no government formed.

Jean-Marc Ayrault, the head of the Socialists' parliamentary bloc who has strong contacts in Berlin, is widely tipped to be named as prime minister.

Hollande is to also eat his first lunch as president with Socialist former prime ministers Pierre Mauroy, Laurent Fabius, Michel Rocard, Edith Cresson and Lionel Jos.

Hollande is to travel to the US on Thursday for the G8 and NATO summits followed by a G-20 gathering and a European Council meeting in June.

How they can sell iPads, Macbooks, HDTVs, Digital Cameras, Gaming Consoles, and more for steep discounts of 75%, 80%, or even 85% off retail price, I don't know. I do know that I bought my son an iPad there for less than $100 and my husband a $250 Lowe's gift card for $48. Why would I shop anyplace else?

Business Workshop: Investing in India a challenge

It makes sense that the many Western Pennsylvania companies looking for investment opportunities in Asia consider India, the world's largest democracy and a place where English is widely spoken. Moreover, Pittsburgh's research universities and high tech community already have created a number of successful ventures throughout the sub-continent.

Any company wanting to invest in India will inevitably face a number of challenges that may impede the best laid business plans. First and foremost, India suffers from a very poor nationwide infrastructure of roads, bridges, railways, ports and electrical generating capacity. While upgrading India's infrastructure offers business prospects to engineers, equipment makers and other suppliers, for other companies it could serve as an impediment to doing business.

Other drawbacks India must overcome include:

? An overly bureaucratic and frequently corrupt system of business regulation.

? A historically high and seemingly uncontrollable birthrate that threatens to tax the economic system despite India's current growth rate of 6 to percent annually.

? Historical political, religious and ethnic conflicts.

India also has an uneven distribution of wealth and resources, making some locations more desirable than others for foreign investors. Among the hottest Indian metropolitan areas for foreign investment is India's "Silicon Valley" of Bangalore, as well as the high tech communities of Hyderabad and Chennai.

The Indian government historically discouraged foreign investment, and even went through a period when it tried to make India completely self sufficient. Those days are gone. Today, the Indian government seems serious about opening up opportunities to foreign investors.

Given the current situation, India could represent a great investment opportunity for a company that will need a highly educated local workforce and for which an efficient distribution system is not essential.
